Stand Tall

Felix very much likes his new ability to stand up and lean against things. His balance seems really quite good. The windows are one of his favorite, good old Truman is another.

Like Father Like Son

Felix wants to be a shopkeeper just like his father did. However, he isn't pleased with the advertising. He shows his contempt by destroying the sign.

The Squint

Louise cannot keep her eyes open with a flash, I cannot keep my eyes open with a flash and apparently the trait is hereditary. It took three pictures before we could get it right.

Highland Park, Rochester

We live next to a stunningly beautiful park (Highland Park). The springtime show is just beginning with the blooming of the magnolias, dogwood, cherries, daffodils, tulips, glory of the snow, snowdrops, etc. The blooming trees and flowers will carry on through the lilacs, azaleas, buckeyes. The park is over 100 years old so some of these trees are just towering.

Can not take it anymore

Paparrazo Mom must be stopped.

The Gang

Here is the whole gang (minus Pinkie who was hospitalized in the bedroom with a small cat-fight wound) in the living room.

Strangers admiring my baby

We are a big hit in the park between our two dogs, the baby, and the fact that we are friendly... Everybody stops to talk.

Super (admiration) Market

Felix adores shopping; 1) because of all the different sights and sounds, 2) because he gets to be at my height, and 3) because he gets lots and lots of attention. The staff loves him, but mostly old men love him. I am not sure as to why, but the old men flock to him. They always tell me the same joke (I kid you not, I have heard this joke 4 times at least.)

Two babies are in a crib, the first baby turns to the second, "Are you a boy or a girl?" The second baby picks up the blanket and peeks under it. The second baby says flatly, "A boy." The first baby says, "How did you know?" The second baby says, "I'm wearing blue!" lots of laughs.

Felix Awake, Felix Asleep

Here is Felix awake during our walk in the cemetery yesterday, and here is Felix asleep during our walk in the cemetary. The second picture reminds me of the old picture from the ranch where everyone is gathered around me in the wheel barrow with a pillow in the bottom of it. Does anyone have that picture? I would like to get a copy?

Famous Graves at Mt. Hope Cemetery

Here is Felix at the graves of Susan B Anthony and Fredrick Douglas.

Rochester is in Bloom

Spring has finally arrived in Rochester. We took these lovely photos at Mt. Hope Cemetery. There are several large stands of Glory of the Snows.

Where the 2nd Zwiebach Went?

Lucy thought it was so nice of Felix to throw her a crisp little cookie.

Zwiebach Is Back

Today was Felix's first Zwiebach. His gums have been really hurting him, so I tried to see if chewing on toast would help. It did, but only for a little bit. He went through the first one fairly slowly, but he had finished the second one so quick!

Dirty Laundry

Today was Felix's first foray into the land of the laundry basket. Frankly, I am surprised that Sophia hasn't introduced him to the joys of sitting on clean folded laundry, but no matter. Felix had a great time playing in the basket while I folded clothes. It also gave him the opportunity to practice his "standing up" skills.

6 months old

Felix had his 6 month checkup. 19lbs 7oz.
First cut is the deepest! This is a picture of Felix's first real visible injury (pride does not count). I don't know when or how it came about, I feel I have let him down by not knowing. Needless to say, it has a disproportionately (disproportionate to the injury, proportionate to my sense of shame) large bandage.

Proud as Punch

This is Felix's latest trick, sliding off the bed and then standing up next to it. I took the bed down and just put the mattress on the floor so that Felix would not hurt himself if you fell out of bed. Well, he just slides off backwards and stands around now. He really enjoys it.

Stuck in Reverse

Well, Felix's transmission is blown. He is stuck in reverse and so is often getting himself wedged underneath things especially the couch, the dogs, or the recliner. He is also adept at getting stuck straddling the poles of his activity mat.

Felix and Lizzie

A couple of afternoons a week I sit with Lizzie (the little girl above). Lizzie's mom is also a professor at St. John Fisher. Lizzie is a beautiful little one year old who will be walking any day. Felix and Lizzie enjoy spending time together although they are still at either solitary (Felix) or parallel (Lizzie) play.
Lizzie is still not at all sure as to why I keep taking her picture. But as with everything; Lizzie is currently reserving judgment until further analysis. She has to hear the buzz on the street before issuing a statement.
